Description
I set my alarm for 2 AM, but I didn't need it. I had been in a light sleep all evening anticipating shooting the Milky Way for the second night on our trip to Colorado. The park ranger had warned me about the light pollution. Still way darker than any sky I had seen back home in Connecticut. We drove about a half mile into the burn scar on Mesa Verde until I found this composition. I wanted to include the dead trees from the 2002 burn that happened on the Mesa and also wanted a nice chunk of the Milky Way. The exposure itself was fairly straightforward. The Electronic level in my camera keep the horizon straight. No need to venture off into the woods and there was not another car around. I set up right on the road. The bright object is Saturn.
This one is going on our wall!
