Description
By October in North America, most of the Galatic Core is hidden from view during the dark hours. By October, most of the mosquitoes have gone on to a better place. I am happy to donate blood to the Red Cross, but not so to the little buggers so October it is. I got to the lake around 7PM. I found a nice solid surface to set my tripod. I always take a few test shots first. I had originally thought of pointing at the North Star to capture the stars rotating around the northern pole. After a few shots, I switched to this compelling composition of the lake houses lit up and a faint, but still visible milky way. This image also caught a shooting star (around a third of the way from the left side). It is one of the hundreds I took that night. I stitched them all together to make a timelapse that shows us (Earth) rotating as the night sky marches slowly to the west.
